Can you imagine a world without art?
Neither can we. That’s why, in 2000, the Extension, Culture and Community Actions Directorate created the Arts and Culture Sector, aiming to integrate art into university life and expand community access to cultural expressions.
The sector promotes a continuous and diverse program aimed at both students and the general public. Weekly artistic performances, art exhibitions, cultural festivals, concerts, and artistic development workshops are held.
We also organize special events, such as poetry readings and cultural trips, which enrich the participants' repertoire and strengthen the bond between the university and society.
We believe that art is a fundamental element in the holistic development of the human being.
The Unesc Choir is a group that seeks to promote the development of its members through musical education. Composed of students, staff, and community members, we share our passion for music at various events, making each performance a unique and enriching experience.
The Unesc Dance Company was established by Resolution No. 30/2012/Rectory on November 9, 2012 (Administrative Norm No. 003/2015) and is linked to the Arts and Culture sector, under the guidance of choreographer Paula Gregório Gonçalves. Its objective is to enable experimentation, dissemination, and representation of the language of dance, providing members with different body techniques and seeking a higher quality of artistic and cultural life.
Open to students, staff, and community members, the Company develops choreographic compositions that meet contemporary artistic and academic demands. Throughout its history, it has performed over 200 presentations, reaching an audience of approximately 100,000 people and establishing itself as a space for expression and appreciation of the art of dance.
Created in July 2019 by Maestro Fábio Matias, the Unesc Instrumental aims to promote musical interaction between students and the community. The group holds weekly rehearsals and offers performances both on and off campus. It is open to students, staff, and community members, with auditions held twice a year for new members.
The Unesc Strings was created in 2025 by the Arts and Culture sector of UNESC. Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesdays, and the group is composed of students and community musicians. The group is coordinated and conducted by Felipe Mendes (a student in the Law program at UNESC).
The #VIVAOCAMPUSUNESC was created in 2025 by the Arts and Culture sector of UNESC. The project aims to expand the repertoire of those involved through presentations and experiences in the languages of music, dance, poetry, theater, and performance. Activities take place every Tuesday at different times and locations on the UNESC campus.
With over 57 years of history, Unesc houses a diverse artistic and cultural collection, consisting of around 300 works, including paintings, sculptures, and photographs.
The Artistic Cultural Collection (AAC) is managed based on museological criteria, ensuring the protection, preservation, and appreciation of each piece. The works are distributed across different spaces on campus and also in a technical reserve.
Employees interested in displaying a work of art in their workplace can contact the Arts and Culture sector.
