Software Engineering

Presentation

The Software Engineering program at UNESC prepares professionals in a practical, solid, and up-to-date manner, combining technical foundations with real development experiences. Throughout their education, students learn to design, develop, test, and maintain software, using best practices, agile methodologies, and modern technologies.

Differentiators

  • Strong integration with the productive market: Established partnerships with technology companies, especially through UNESC Labs and internship agreements, providing continuous practical experience and direct contact with real sector demands.
  • Project-based education, active methodologies, and problem-solving situations: The educational journey is structured through interdisciplinary projects in every semester, involving research and extension, promoting teamwork, autonomy, student leadership, and the development of technical and humanistic skills.
  • Excellent technological infrastructure: Availability of exclusive state-of-the-art laboratories, including environments focused on the Internet of Things and Mixed Reality, equipped with advanced tools such as HoloLens and Meta Quest, ensuring an education aligned with emerging technologies.
  • Qualified faculty connected to the market: Professors with master's and doctoral degrees who have academic roles and experience in the productive market, ensuring an updated education aligned with industry trends and the professional requirements of software engineers.

What will you learn?

With the software engineering program, graduates will learn about various aspects of technology, including:

  • Fundamentals of Computing: Programming logic and algorithms; Programming in modern languages (such as C, Java, Python, and JavaScript); Data structures and algorithm complexity; Computer architecture and organization.
  • Software Engineering in practice: Requirements gathering and analysis; System modeling (UML and other techniques); Software design and best development practices; System maintenance and evolution.
  • System Development: Front-end and Back-end development; Web and mobile applications; APIs, system integration, and microservices; Relational and non-relational databases.
  • Quality, Testing, and Security: Software testing (manual and automated); Quality assurance (QA); Information security and data protection; System auditing and reliability.
  • Processes, DevOps, and Innovation: Agile methodologies; Software project management; DevOps, continuous integration, and delivery; Process automation and cloud computing.
  • Emerging Technologies: Artificial Intelligence and Data Science; Big Data and information analysis; Ethical and responsible use of digital technologies.
  • Professional Training: Entrepreneurship and innovation; Teamwork and leadership; Ethics, legislation, and social responsibility; Real projects in partnership with companies.

Job Market

The Software Engineering market is attractive due to the high demand for professionals, the diversity of areas of expertise, and the constant opportunities for growth. With digital transformation across various sectors, software engineers find a dynamic environment, with the possibility of working on innovative projects, remote work, and continuous development in a valued and ever-evolving career.

In addition to having partnerships with several technology companies in the region, the Software Engineering program has a specific project that takes place within the university. This project is UNESC Labs, where technology companies are established in the program's computer labs, and students participate in this project. This is a significant innovation and makes a huge difference in the students' education. Companies that are part of UNESC LABS include COOPERJA, PROCER, DEPS, CONTATO, EMA SOFTWARE, MOHAWK, and more companies will join the project next semester.
