About the residency

Made possible by the University of Southern Santa Catarina (Unesc) – the proposing institution of the project – in partnership with the Municipal Health Department of Criciúma, which provides the locations for practical activities, the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Collective Health began its activities in 2012, approved by Joint Ordinance No. 7 of November 27, 2012, in reference to the call for proposals No. 17, dated November 4, 2011.

Selected professionals benefit from scholarships funded by the Ministry of Education for 24 months and, at the end of this period, receive a postgraduate certificate with the title of Specialist in Collective Health.

Currently, 12 annual vacancies are offered for professionals from six health areas: 2 for Nursing, 2 for Pharmacy, 2 for Physical Therapy, 2 for Nutrition, 2 for Psychology, and 2 for Physical Education - Bachelor's degree.

Program objective

Aiming to contribute to the consolidation of the care model advocated by the Unified Health System (SUS), the program seeks to qualify health professionals for the development of activities in health promotion, prevention, and recovery, through collective approaches and individual clinical actions, based on the guidelines of comprehensiveness and the health surveillance model of SUS, acting integratively in different areas of knowledge through on-the-job training.

Understanding Collective Health as a complex field that intersects with other areas of knowledge, the program aims to integrate professionals at various points of the Health Care Network (RAS), with a special focus on Primary Health Care (APS) points.

The Multiprofessional Residency Commission in Health (COREMU) is part of the National Commission for Multiprofessional Residency in Health (CNRMS), to which the three residency programs in health at Unesc are linked: Basic Care/Family Health; Collective Health; and Mental Health, Attention, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
