Commitment to Society

Created from a mobilization of civil society, community universities have their own reason for being rooted in the community itself. It is through this partnership between the university and the community that experiences are shared and two-way paths are built on the road of knowledge, to change scenarios, lives, and generate opportunities.

Community higher education institutions are non-profit and reinvest all their results to maintain their activities. They are universities that contribute to the development of Brazil by offering quality education, conducting research, encouraging innovation, and carrying out initiatives either independently or in partnership with productive sectors and public authorities to promote the socioeconomic development of the regions where they are located.

Community universities have a public vocation: they are focused on the development of communities rather than personal or private interests. They are non-state institutions that offer not only teaching and research but also community actions through extension projects involving faculty and students, as well as providing services in areas such as health, law, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, education, and leadership training.
