CPA

What are you looking for?

The Self-Assessment Committee (CPA) was established by all higher education institutions in compliance with Article 11 of Law 10.861/2004 (SINAES Law), with the main responsibility of "coordinating the internal evaluation processes of the Institution, systematizing, and providing the information requested by Inep."

This committee follows the guidelines below:

I - constituted by an act of the highest authority of the higher education institution, or by provision in its own statute or regulations, ensuring the participation of all segments of the university community and organized civil society, and prohibiting a composition that favors the absolute majority of one of the segments;
II - acting autonomously in relation to existing councils and other collegiate bodies within the Higher Education Institution.

It is an academic representation committee and should establish a link between the institutional self-assessment project and the overall Brazilian national higher education system.

The results of the institutional self-assessment will serve as a basic reference for the regulation and supervision processes of Higher Education, including the accreditation and re-accreditation of institutions, as well as the authorization, recognition, and renewal of recognition of undergraduate courses.

As a legal requirement, the CPA, in partnership with Seai, develops in two main moments:

  • Internal Evaluation or Self-Assessment – conducted in partnership CPA/Seai;
  • External Evaluation – carried out by external committees appointed by Inep and monitored by CPA/Seai.

Responsibilities

I. Evaluate the processes and results of the Institutional Evaluation that will compose the report of the institutional self-assessment.
II. Analyze reports, prepare opinions, and forward recommendations to the competent bodies.
III. Prepare the institutional self-assessment report.
IV. Formulate proposals for the improvement and development of institutional activities related to teaching, research, and extension.
V. Systematize and provide information to be sent to the competent authorities.
VI. Hold regular meetings and, when necessary, extraordinary ones.

The CPA operates autonomously in relation to the councils and other collegiate bodies of the Institution, according to Article 11, item II of Law No. 10.861/2004 (SINAES Law).

For the planning and systematization of its activities, the CPA will comply with the recommendations of the National Commission for the Evaluation of Higher Education, Conaes, the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research, Inep, and the Ministry of Education, Mec.
