Graduation Ceremony

What is a graduation ceremony?

A graduation ceremony is the official act of the university and is held in a solemn and public session, at a location, time, and day previously designated by the rectorate. The ceremony is conducted with more than one undergraduate program, following the criteria of grouping by area and/or number of students. The graduation ceremony for the first class of the program may be separated from the other programs to register a special ceremony.

Who is entitled to the graduation ceremony?

According to the regulation, all graduates are guaranteed the right to participate in the graduation ceremony in a solemn and public session.

When are graduation ceremonies held?

Graduation ceremonies take place at the beginning of the semester following the semester of completion.

Can I receive my diploma without attending the graduation ceremony?

No. To be entitled to the diploma, the graduate must attend the graduation ceremony, in accordance with the university's current regulations. After the graduation ceremony, the student must request their diploma, which will be issued by the Diploma Registration Department within a minimum period of 90 (ninety) days, provided that the legally established requirements are met.

What are the requirements to attend the graduation ceremony?

To attend the graduation ceremony, the student must fulfill a series of requirements, such as:

  • having successfully completed the full curriculum of their program, in terms of courses and total credits;
  • having submitted all documents required by the university;
  • being listed on the graduates list issued by the Academic Requirements and Control Department;
  • being in good financial standing with Fucri/Unesc;
  • having paid the required fees.

Failure to submit the missing documents by the established deadline will result in the graduate's non-participation in the official graduation ceremony.

How does the graduation ceremony work in special circumstances?

The graduate may request a graduation ceremony in special circumstances, which must be analyzed and approved by the rectorate. Graduation by proxy registered at a notary will not be allowed.
Course coordinators may also, by delegation from the rector, grant degrees in special circumstances.
