Invitations and Honors

Who is responsible for the invitations?

It is the responsibility of each class to invite their special guests and authorities in the field. A proof of the invitation must be sent to the Events Supervision, adhering to the necessary deadlines for printing.

What should an invitation contain?

The message on the invitation should convey what the event is about. When sending the invitation, the recipient should be touched by the emotion that will prompt a change in behavior. The invitation should include all the informative elements that the recipient expects to participate in such a ceremony, such as: date, time, location (city/state), address, sender of the invitation, RSVP, dress code, and the list of academic authorities responsible for the graduation.

Who makes up the board of the ceremony?

The board of the graduation ceremony is composed of the rector of Unesc or their legal representative; constituted authorities; the patron; the honorary patron; and the course coordinator. Other authorities, honored professors, and academic authorities will occupy a specific area.

What is the role of the patron?

The patron is the class's godfather and, formally, is the one who will recommend the good performance of the graduates to society in the roles they may undertake. The patron is also the person who hands out the certificates to their godchildren. They should also deliver a formal message during the Graduation Ceremony, with a suggested time of five minutes.
For each graduation, there is only one patron, chosen by the group of graduates for that event.

What is the role of the honorary patron?

The honorary patron is a professor who stands out in the scientific body of the area, recognized for their competence and as a reference standard in the specific field of knowledge. Each course may choose only one honorary patron. The choice will be the responsibility of the graduates.

How many people can be honored at the graduation ceremony?

It is important to emphasize that a large number of honorees dilutes the honor. Each course may choose a maximum of 03 (three) professors and/or staff members to honor, with 01 (one) name from the class. When it comes to the graduation of only 01 (one) course, up to 06 (six) professors and/or staff members may be honored, with 01 (one) name from the class.

Is it necessary to inform about the people who will be honored?

Yes. The graduation committee must submit, at least 15 (fifteen) days prior to the graduation date, to the Events Department (eventos@unesc.net), the official list of all honorees at the event (patron, honorary patron, professor, oath taker, class name) and the speech of the speaker.

How to choose the honorees?

The class should be cautious and attentive when choosing whom to honor. It is essential to remember that honored professors and staff are those who, in the daily academic and administrative relationships, had the most proximity and affinity with the graduates and, therefore, deserve their recognition and gratitude.

Who calls the people who will be honored at the graduation?

This task falls to the master of ceremonies. They invite the graduates who will, on behalf of the educational institution and the class, present flowers, plaques, or other honors.
